Murad Pomegranate Exfoliating Mask Review

Today’s facemask is the Pomegranate Exfoliating Mask from Murad, a brand that I’d not heard of before this sample arrived in last month’s Love Me Beauty box. I say sample, but it’s not actually a sample – when you purchase this you receive six of these little sachets, and I’m not entirely sure I like this concept as one of the first things I noticed was that you get way more than you need for one use.

The official description-

Dissolve tired cells and free skin from trapped impurities for a refreshed, revitalised and balanced complexion.

Despite being an exfoliating mask there are no grains or abrasive particles at all, the mask has a clear gel texture and no amount of scrubbing in the world is going to make it buff away dead skin like a conventional exfoliator. It gave a sort of tingly sensation that I imagine could be quite uncomfortable if you have very sensitive skin, but it was mild enough on my own skin which is tough as nails.

Murad Pomegranate Exfoliating Mask

Although the Murad Pomegranate Exfoliating Mask doesn’t really “set” like a clay mask it does tighten ever so slightly after around 10 minutes which I always think is a good reminder to go take it off!

It washed off in a matter of moments and I have to say my skin felt amazing! When I got out of the shower and had a peek in the mirror I almost gasped, ,my ruddy greasy skin looked radiant and bright and the effects lasted for a good few days!

I’ve stuck religiously to my Soap & Glory No Clogs Allowed (Reviewed here) recently, but I think I might consider buying a box of these for days when I really need a pick me up.

£25 for a box of six sachets from

Totally hellbent for being blown away by the results

Soap and Glory No Clogs Allowed Super Self Heating Deep Pore Detox Mask

January 3, 2014

Soap and Glory no clogs allowed

It’s been absolutely ages since I posted, but with Christmas and new years out of the way now seems the perfect time to be giving my skin some TLC and I couldn’t put on a face-mask without knocking out a #Facemaskfriday blog!

The Soap & Glory No Clogs Allowed Super Self Heating Deep Pore Detox Mask (I swear the names of products are getting longer again!) is an exfoliating, self-heating mask that doesn’t harden. You take a grape sized amount and rub it into your skin till it turns from white to blue, as it does you feel the warming effect start up and then after five minutes you’re good to take it off.

I usually prefer clay based masks as they work wonders on my oily t-zone, but this left my skin not only squeaky clean but also really soft! It came off in the shower without the need for a wash-cloth and left no residue behind at all.

The 100ml tube seems a really generous size for the price point, and even with weekly use this looks like it will last a really long time.

Definitely just what my skin needs to get through these cold winter months!

Available from for £8.50

Totally hellbent for a clog free face!

Facemask Friday – The Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask

December 20, 2013

teatree face mask

I absolutely love tea tree products, one of my firm favourite’s used to be Superdrug’s exfoliating Tea Tree Face Pads before they changed the product slightly and they now don’t seem to resemble sandpaper as closely. (I know I know, bad for your skin but it feels so good!)

When my skin is feeling a bit drab I love using this tea tree face mask from The Body Shop. It’s also probably one of the nicest face masks to apply due to how easily it goes on.

Above – this applies so well to the Skin and I find the coverage is amazing, this face mask also dries hard as you can see below which I generally prefer with masks. The other added bonus to this mask, is that I end up with a dry green face which is wonderful for freaking out my partner Brains.

Another thing I like is that this washes away so well. I generally take mine off in the shower and this rinses with ease. I find I don’t have to spend ages trying to find stealth green residual bits on my face! It also leaves my skin wonderfully soft and feeling full on pampered.

You can pick up The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Face Mask in store or online for just £10 (trust me when I say these pots go a long way!) If you have sensitive skin, just ask at your nearest store for a sample before hand and they usually oblige very kindly.

Totally hellbent for facemask’s that make you look like the incredible hulk

Facemask Friday – Sugar and Spice Self-Heating Mask

October 25, 2013

sugar and spice

I usually go for deep cleansing and pore refining masks, but this was picked up on a whim in a 2 for 3 offer a while ago, and I figured I may as well give it a try whilst my pores are behaving for once!

The warming sensation is lovely and very soothing. I was having quite a stressful morning and felt instantly more relaxed once the facemask started heating up beneath my fingers.

The smell is a delicious vanilla and caramel – very sweet without being too strong or too sickly and overall the entire experience was a very enjoyable one.

Because it never hardens it washes off really easily in the shower, and now my skin feels very soft and also very cleansed so double whammy! Definitely worth trying if you have dry skin!

Available from Superdrug for 99p (currently 3 for 2!)

Totally hellbent for a warm face on a cold morning

Facemask Friday: Avon Planet Spa Dead Sea Minerals

October 11, 2013

avon planet spa dead sea

This has been one of my favourite facemasks for ages but I’ve had to do without  as it was omitted from the brochures and online for a while. Then suddenly I found an unopened tube in the back of my facemask drawer – hurrah!

These tubes last a really long time as I find you only need a very thin layer, as opposed to the sachets where you have to use it all in one go.

It works great at absorbing excess oil and minimising pores, and always leaves my skin feeling really fresh and deep cleaned – so ticks all the boxes for me!

They’re a bit tricky to get hold of, but you can sometimes find them floating around on Ebay when they are not available from the brochure.

Totally hellbent for finding lost beauty treasure!

Facemask Friday – Superfruits Exfoliating Mask

September 27, 2013

superdrug superfruits facemask

We all love a multi-tasker right? Well this facemask is something I’ve never come across before, but when you think about it it just makes perfect sense! The mask contains ground up strawberry seeds so as you apply it you have a built in exfoliator!

The scent of this alone is worth raving on about, a mix of strawberry, blueberry, cranberry and raspberry that doesn’t feel synthetic and isn’t too overpowering once it’s on your face.

It dried in just under ten minutes, and rinsed off easily. Though my skin looked and felt much cleaner and brighter when I got out of the shower, I don’t think it really did too much for my massive pores on close inspection. This wouldn’t stop me from buying it again though as the overall results and the gorgeous smell more than made up for it.

Available from Superdrug for 99p.

Totally hellbent for natural berry scents.

Facemask Friday – Amie Spring Clean Cooling Clay Mask

September 20, 2013

Amie spring clean clay face mask

My collection of face-masks is quickly overwhelming the storage space I have set aside for them, so in an attempt to start using them more often (I’m sure my skin will thank me!) I’ve decided to try a different one every Friday to review for you all!

First up is the Amie SPRING CLEAN Cooling Clay Mask. I received this in my last Latest in Beauty Little Beauty Box (which Amie reviewed here).

I’ve been eager to try out this brand for a while, but never quite got around to it. I love their natural and cruelty free ethos, and have seen many positive reviews around the beauty-blog-o-sphere.

From the second I opened it I was in love with the fresh and natural peppermint scent. A lot of facemasks promise a cooling and refreshing sensation, but this really made my skin tingle pleasantly!

It took slightly longer than the ten minutes promised to dry, but I did apply it rather thickly.

It came off easily in the shower, with none of the clinging-to-eyebrows-malarkey you sometimes get, and I have to say my skin is looking much brighter, clearer and refreshed.

If the rest of Amie’s products are as good as this consider me sold!

Available from Boots for £4.95 – 70ml

Direct from Amie £1.50 for 3 x 10ml

Totally hellbent for falling in love with a new brand!
